Happy Summer!

It's the first day of summer vacation and I can't believe how fast this school year flew by!  Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me.  I am proud of each and every one of them.  They are readers, writers, mathematicians and I have no doubt that they are ready for second grade in the fall.  In fact, their future looks so bright, I gave them each a pair of shades!! :)
This summer I encourage you and your child to take advantage of Flint Public Library's Summer Reading Program.  Also, our blog and Symbaloo page will be up and running throughout the summer for access to online practice with words and numbers.  Thank you again for an amazing year with your amazing child!  Your support was appreciated and I hope you come to visit in the future.   Enjoy every moment of your summer and best of luck in second grade!

Tide Pool Jokes

The first graders have learned so much about tide pool creatures...they are practically experts!  We wrote and illustrated some jokes to go with our favorite tide pool friends using ChatterPix--Enjoy!

Tide Pool Fun

Well yesterday was the big event-our trip to the TIDE POOLS!  We had so much fun meeting some of the creatures that we have learned so much about in school.  There were crabs, limpets, periwinkles, clams, mussels, and even some eels and lobsters!  The day was a great success and I was so proud of my first grade scientists when I heard them sharing all of their knowledge about tide pool organisms with their friends and parents.  They are experts-we may even have some future marine biologists on our hands!  Thank you to the PTO for making this wonderful day possible and also to the parents for joining us!  We are looking forward to seeing our families at the Tide Pool Boogie next Tuesday, June 16th, followed by a visit to our classroom!

Because I was so busy exploring (and trying not to slip on the seaweed covered rocks) there are only a few pictures from our fun day!

Beauty and the Beast

Yesterday, Fuller Meadow students were lucky enough to travel to Howe-Manning to see the sixth grade performance of Beauty and the Beast.  It was such a pleasure to see such talent in action!  The first graders were especially excited to see some people they know perform a familiar story.  Great job, sixth graders and thanks for having us!
