1-Thomson Sets Sail into a New School Year!
We are off to a great start in 1-Thomson! Our first week was filled with fun activities as we dove right into learning. We started off on Tuesday by touring the classroom and learning some of the new routines. We drew first day of school self portraits of ourselves (we have some great artists in 1-T!), and then we talked about our first day of school feelings after reading the The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. The students enjoyed hearing this story of Chester the raccoon and how he handled his first day of school nerves. Our week continued with an introduction to our math calendar routine using the SmartBoard, then creating "Math About Me" posters, and sharing pictures and stories from our summer! This is going to be a great year!

It's hard to believe that this summer has come and gone, but I am SO excited to get this school year started! After teaching third grade for five years, I am eager to begin this new chapter of my teaching career in first grade! Here, on Making Waves, you will get a glimpse of all the wonderful first grade happenings in room 122! Don't forget to follow our blog by entering your email to receive notification when something new and spectacular has been added to our blog! I am looking forward to a great school year filled with fun, discovery, and lots of learning!
